What is sent when you export
When you request an export, the extension sends the selected message content, document title and your PDF settings to our PDF service over HTTPS. Content may include text, code, tables, formulas and supported embedded images. It can contain personal or sensitive information that you choose to include. Review your selection before exporting.
The extension does not send your ChatGPT login password, session cookies or API credentials. It does not read conversations in other tabs for that export or upload messages automatically. The first export asks you to acknowledge the transfer.
How we use the content
Our service processes the submitted content to create the PDF you requested and returns it to your browser. Conversation content and generated PDFs are not saved as application records. The service uses temporary rendering resources and runs cleanup when requests finish or rendering processes shut down.
We do not use this content for advertising, sell it, or use it to train AI models.
Usage limits and technical records
To protect a free service from overload, we keep a keyed, hashed network identifier, usage counters and expiration dates. The application does not store the raw IP address with these counters. Quota records expire two days after the end of their UTC calendar month and are then removed by the database’s automatic expiration process. People sharing a network may share a free allowance.
The hosting provider processes network information, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure the service and may retain technical infrastructure logs under its own policies. Hosting and database infrastructure process data on our behalf to deliver the service.
We do not include conversation text, document titles or generated PDFs in application logs. No advertising or third-party analytics SDK is included in the extension.
What stays in your browser
The extension stores PDF preferences and your acknowledgment of server processing in Chrome extension storage. Your downloaded PDF remains on your device until you delete it. Removing the extension clears its local settings; it does not delete PDFs you have downloaded.
Your choices
You can cancel before exporting, choose fewer messages, remove the extension, or delete downloaded files at any time. No account or payment is required for the free launch edition. Do not include information you do not want processed by the PDF service.
Limited use
Chat to PDF uses data obtained from browser permissions only to provide its user-facing PDF export feature and to protect that service. Its handling of that data follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
