UKOOM Sample 100
Fictional index · 100 constituents · 6 sectors37 of 100 names are up
45% of total index weight
Based on weighted sector returns
01 / PARTICIPATION
How much of the market is moving?
Each constituent counts once, regardless of its index weight.
02 / CONCENTRATION
What is driving the headline?
Contributions are percentage points (pp), not a share of the return. Displayed values are rounded.
03 / SECTOR DETAIL
Where does participation show up?
Sector returns use weights within each sector. The count shows how many constituents advance.
AGENT BRIEF
Read the underlying story.
The index is up. Most constituents are not.
- 01
The sample index moves +0.85%, while 37 of 100 constituents advance and 63 decline.
- 02
The ten largest weights contribute +0.97 percentage points. The other 90 contribute -0.12 percentage points.
- 03
5 of 6 sectors have a positive weighted return. The headline gain masks weak participation across individual constituents.

A fictional universe, visible assumptions.
The UKOOM Sample 100 contains 100 invented companies, SIM001–SIM100. The first ten each carry 4.5% weight; each of the other 90 carries 55/90%. The same weights are used in all three scenarios. Moves are illustrative changes over one simulated period.
The first ten are allocated to Technology (4), Communication (2), Financials (2), Industrials (1), and Consumer (1). The remaining constituents cycle evenly through the six sectors.
Reproducible calculations.
Index move: sum of weight × constituent change, with weights expressed as fractions. Contribution: the same sum for the selected group, in percentage points. Breadth: advancing constituents ÷ all constituents. Sector return: sector contribution ÷ sector weight.
